SR-22, or certificate of insurance, is a form that your insurance company will file on your behalf certifying that you have insurance coverage. There are a few instances in which you may be required to file a SR-22 including driving without insurance, driving under the influence, having multiple traffic offenses, and having your license suspended. 

When looking for auto insurance coverage you should make sure the company will file the SR-22 for you. Some require a small fee to file.​
